Gas stations have a strong art historical connotation: Eduard Hopper, Ed Ruscha, Matthew Barney,… At the same time gas stations stand for a certain form of modernity and romanticism. The particular element of this project has though to do with the night and the short time people spend in the gas station and its shop. A number of projects will be realized in and around the gas station which one can only experience between midnight and 6 a.m. The project articulates the night with its other rhythmus, light, time and people.
